ARTIST STATEMENT

The first step in creating my transparent watercolour paintings is placing the subject matter in time and space. The composition of the painting is influenced by the weather condition, quality of light and the season. These elements modify the image, colour, texture and observed shape of the composition of the painting. The images are manipulated to give the illusion of infinite space through porportion, form, media placement and hue. This illusory imagery creates a mythical distance between myself and the observer.
